Arrests Made After Incident at Kenton Synagogue
The Metropolitan Police have announced the arrest of a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man in connection with an arson incident targeting a synagogue in north-west London. The incident occurred at the Kenton United Synagogue in Harrow on Sunday.
Authorities reported that a man was observed lighting a bag in the doorway of the synagogue. The bag was later found to contain three bottles filled with fluid. While the shopfront sustained minor damage, no injuries were reported from the incident.
Broader Investigation into Related Incidents
Deputy Commissioner Matt Jukes of the Met Police informed the BBC that approximately 15 arrests have been made in relation to a series of six incidents targeting premises with Jewish connections across London in recent weeks. These incidents include an arson attack on four Jewish ambulances in Golders Green and a separate synagogue in Finchley, north London.
The police also stated they are exploring a line of inquiry regarding potential links to Iranian-backed proxies in connection with these recent attacks. Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme, Jukes emphasized, “I think that’s a very serious line of inquiry in relation to these events, we’ve seen a pattern.”
