Robot Rescues Elderly Woman from Frontline Village in Ukraine

Robot Intervention Saves Civilian Life on Ukrainian Frontline

Recent footage released by Ukraine’s 3rd Army Corps highlights a remarkable rescue operation. The video captures the moment an elderly woman, attempting to evacuate her war-damaged village, was successfully rescued by a robot.

The operation began when the Ukrainian army utilized a drone to locate the woman. Upon identifying her, a ground-based robotic unit was dispatched to her aid. The drone footage, made public on Saturday, shows the robot approaching the woman with a message inscribed on it: “grandma, sit down.”

The rescued woman, identified as Antonina Horuzha, shared her experience with BBC correspondent Jessica Parker, stating, “I thought I wouldn’t make it and didn’t have the strength.” This incident underscores the critical role that ground drones and robotic systems are increasingly playing in humanitarian efforts, including the rescue and supply of individuals in challenging frontline environments across Ukraine.
