Superdry co-founder James Holder has been found guilty of raping a woman.
The 54-year-old was convicted by a jury of seven men and five women following a five-day trial at Gloucester Crown Court, sitting in Cirencester.
Bail Application Denied
Recorder David Chidgey dismissed Holder’s application for bail, stating that the temptation for him to use his “significant resources” to leave the country would be “too great.”
Holder, from Cheltenham in Gloucestershire, was also found not guilty by the jury of a charge of assault by penetration.
The fashion tycoon, who established Superdry with Julian Dunkerton in 2003, told the court he was on an “impromptu night out” on May 6, 2022, when he returned to the woman’s flat in Cheltenham. A witness previously testified that she had called separate taxis for Holder and the victim, but Holder subsequently entered the victim’s taxi, which was destined for her home address.
