Trump Administration Proposes New Arch Twice the Height of Lincoln Memorial

The Trump administration has unveiled conceptual designs for a colossal gold-accented victory arch, informally referred to by some as the “Arc de Trump.” This proposed structure is envisioned to stand approximately 250 feet (76.2 meters) tall, symbolizing one foot for each year since the United States declared its independence. At this height, it would be more than twice as tall as the Lincoln Memorial, which is situated directly across a prominent bridge from the arch’s intended location. If constructed, it would claim the title of the world’s tallest triumphal arch. BBC’s Ione Wells provides further context on the controversial nature of this plan, with video by Meiying Wu.
