Iran Declares Strait of Hormuz ‘Completely Open’ Following Israel-Lebanon Ceasefire

Strait of Hormuz Declared Fully Open for Commercial Shipping

Iran’s foreign minister has announced that the Strait of Hormuz is “completely open” for all commercial vessels and will maintain this status throughout the duration of the recently agreed Israel-Lebanon ceasefire.

Official Confirmation from Iranian Foreign Minister

Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, confirmed the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday. He stated, “In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire.” This declaration follows the 10-day ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, which was reached late on Thursday.

Coordinated Passage Routes

Araghchi further clarified that the passage of vessels through the vital strait would adhere to a coordinated route, as previously announced by the Ports and Maritime Organisation of Iran. This ensures orderly and safe transit for all commercial shipping.

International Acknowledgment

The announcement received international acknowledgment, with United States President Donald Trump also confirming the situation. In a social media post, President Trump affirmed that the strait was “completely open and ready for business and full passage,” underscoring the importance of this waterway for global trade.

Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
