Ceasefire Holds in Southern Lebanon, Residents Face Barriers
BBC Arabic’s correspondent Carine Torbey reports from the border town of Khiam, where the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon has entered its second day.
Despite the ceasefire, the Lebanese army has established a barrier to prevent residents from returning to their homes in Khiam. This measure comes after continued reports of loud explosions in nearby towns, some of which remain partly under Israeli occupation.
On Friday, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun expressed optimism, declaring that his country was entering a new phase. He suggested this period could potentially transform the temporary ceasefire into a lasting peace settlement for the region.
