King Charles III and Queen Camilla Conclude Second Day of US State Visit

King Charles III and Queen Camilla continued their significant state visit in Washington D.C. on Tuesday. Their day included a meeting with members of President Trump’s cabinet, followed by a historic address by the King to both houses of the US Congress. This speech was delivered in celebration of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary.

The royal couple concluded their day with a prestigious state dinner at the White House. During the dinner, President Trump commended the United Kingdom, acknowledging the ‘richest inheritance one nation could give to another’. In a gesture of goodwill, King Charles presented the president with a bell from ‘HMS Trump’, a submarine named after his World War II namesake.

A Landmark Royal Visit

This visit marks a significant occasion, being the first state visit by a reigning British monarch to the US since Queen Elizabeth II met President George W. Bush in 2007.

Looking ahead, the King and Queen are scheduled to travel to New York City tomorrow. There, they will participate in a memorial service honoring the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
