Incredible Endurance for a Noble Cause
A woman from Helston has demonstrated extraordinary endurance, completing five marathons in five consecutive days to raise vital funds for a charity dedicated to improving the mental health of young women.
The Challenge: 130 Miles Across Five Days
Tegan Pryce embarked on her challenging 130-mile (209km) journey by participating in the London Marathon on Sunday. She not only completed this demanding race but also achieved a personal best time of three hours and 27 minutes. Following this impressive start, the physical trainer continued her feat, running a marathon every day until and including Thursday. Her routes included a stretch from Exeter to Exmouth and another from Marazion to Mousehole, showcasing her commitment across diverse landscapes.
Supporting Young Women’s Mental Health
Pryce’s fundraising efforts are specifically directed towards Georgia’s Voice, a Cornwall-based charity. She highlighted the organization’s crucial work, stating it does “great work in preventing suicide in young women aged between 18 and 25.” This mission underscores the profound impact of her physical challenge.
A Journey of Highs and Lows
Reflecting on her experience, Pryce shared insights into the varying conditions and personal struggles. “London was good, the crowds were amazing and it was so hot,” she recalled, adding, “I don’t think I was quite prepared for the heat but the vibe was so good.” The second marathon proved manageable despite the aftermath of London: “The second one was OK, actually, I had very, very sore legs after London but the weather was nice.” However, by Tuesday, the cumulative strain began to take its toll. “Tuesday was really tough, my body started to really hurt,” she admitted. Upon completing her fifth marathon, Pryce humorously remarked that she would “probably be lying down until Monday,” a testament to the immense physical exertion.
