Fan Backlash Leads to World Cup Transport Price Cuts

Following significant feedback from fans, transportation costs for trains and buses serving World Cup matches at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey have been reduced.

Significant Price Adjustments

The cost of a train ticket has been substantially lowered from $150 (£111) to $98 (£73). Similarly, shuttle bus fares have seen a considerable drop, now priced at $20 (£15) from their original $80 (£59).

Thomas Concannon, a prominent figure and leader of the Football Supporters’ Association England fan group, had previously voiced strong criticism regarding the “astronomical” event pricing, characterizing it as “completely out of the norm.”

MetLife Stadium, which will be officially referred to as New York/New Jersey Stadium during the World Cup in adherence to FIFA’s policy on corporate sponsored names, is set to host eight crucial matches. These include the highly anticipated final and one of England’s Group L fixtures. For context, a typical return rail journey from Penn Station in Manhattan to the venue, approximately 18 miles away, usually costs around $12.90 (£9.50).
