Public Backlash and Concerns<\/H3>
\nThe initiative has, however, triggered a significant backlash on social media, with hundreds of residents voicing their concerns in response to a council post. Critics have labeled it a “dumb idea,” expressing fears that it could lead to **an increase in illegal fly-tipping**. Others questioned the necessity of changing the current system, noting that similar registration schemes have “caused lots of problems in other districts.” Concerns were also raised regarding accessibility for **older residents or those without internet access**, with one user asking, “How does someone without broadband, smart phone or computer register?”<\/p>\n

The council clarified that residents unable to register online can do so by **calling the council directly or visiting a local library or council office** for assistance. Once registered, the details will remain valid for three years.
