Chavez-DeRemer, 58, was reportedly subject to an internal investigation concerning potential wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Post initially reported in January that the Labor Department&#8217;s inspector general, an independent lawyer, had initiated an investigation into Chavez-DeRemer for alleged workplace misconduct. According to the Post, the complaint against her alleged she consumed alcohol during work hours in her office and engaged in &#8220;travel fraud&#8221; by having staff arrange official work trips to desired personal destinations. <strong>She has consistently denied any allegations of wrongdoing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Chavez-DeRemer&#8217;s Statement and White House Praise<\/h3>\n<p>In a post on X, Chavez-DeRemer stated, &#8220;I am proud that we made significant progress in advancing President Trump&#8217;s mission to bridge the gap between business and labor and always put the American worker first.&#8221; Her departure was announced via a post on X on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>White House Director of Communications <strong>Steven Cheung<\/strong> praised her &#8220;phenomenal job&#8221; as secretary, citing her work in &#8220;protecting American workers, enacting fair labor practices, and helping Americans gain additional skills to improve their lives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In her statement, Chavez-DeRemer highlighted her contributions to the Trump administration, which included preparing &#8220;workers to excel in the age of AI,&#8221; efforts to reduce drug costs, and promoting &#8220;retirement security.&#8221; She concluded, &#8220;Thank you, President Trump. This followed reports from two female employees who alleged he had touched them inappropriately, sources told CBS News.<\/p>\n<p>One of the women filed a police report in December; however, federal prosecutors opted not to pursue charges against DeRemer after reviewing evidence, including security camera footage, CBS reported. Lawyers representing Shawn DeRemer have denied these allegations.
