If your flight is cancelled, the airline is obligated to either get you to your destination or provide a refund. For delays exceeding a few hours, airlines must offer food and hotel accommodation under normal circumstances. However, in “extraordinary circumstances” such as war, severe weather, or events beyond the airline’s control, they are not required to offer additional compensation. Airlines are currently seeking clarification on whether fuel shortages stemming from the ongoing conflict would qualify as “extraordinary circumstances.” <\/p>\n
If you booked accommodation separately, the airline is not responsible for compensating you for missed days. However, for package holidays, if travel is disrupted, your tour operator should extend your stay, offer an alternative holiday, or provide a refund, according to Boland. <\/p>\n
