Islanders planning to attend **Liberation Day celebrations in Guernsey** this year are being encouraged to opt for more active and sustainable modes of transport. Organisers hope these alternative travel arrangements will help to **ease pressure and reduce congestion** in the town centre.<\/p>\n
With over 20,000 people having attended the celebrations in 2025, Deputy Andy Cameron highlighted Liberation Day as “one of the busiest days in our calendar.” He urged attendees to consider various options to reach St Peter Port.<\/p>\n
“With large numbers heading into St Peter Port to celebrate, I would encourage everyone who can to consider travelling into town by **cycling, using the free bus travel, or parking at one of the Park & Stride locations and walking in**,” Deputy Cameron stated.<\/p>\n
He further added that “Choosing alternative transport where possible will help reduce congestion in the town centre, support a more sustainable approach to the day, and ease pressure for those who are unable to do the same.”<\/p>\n
To facilitate these efforts, organisers have confirmed **additional bicycle parking** will be available at several key locations, including Havelet, The Albany (by the bus terminus), Le Bordage, North Beach, and the Inter-Island Quay.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, a **free standard Saturday bus service**, including night buses, will be operational throughout the day, departing from the Town Terminus, providing a convenient option for many.<\/p>\n
