Audiences can access this content via their dedicated websites \u2013 <strong>bbc.com\/magyarul<\/strong> and <strong>bbc.com\/romania<\/strong> \u2013 alongside their respective social media channels.<\/p>\n<p>The Hungarian-language website and its accompanying social media channels on Facebook and Instagram are scheduled to go live from <strong>Tuesday, June 16<\/strong>. Following this, the Romanian-language website and its social media presence on Facebook and Instagram will become available from <strong>Tuesday, June 23<\/strong>. Both language services are also planning to launch YouTube and TikTok channels at a later date.<\/p>\n<h3>Content and Reach<\/h3>\n<p>Designed to serve audiences across <strong>Hungary, Romania, Moldova<\/strong>, and beyond, these pilot services will offer independent and impartial coverage of significant global and regional developments. The content will span a wide array of topics, including global and European current affairs, health, science, technology, climate, and the cost of living, addressing areas where audiences in Central and Eastern Europe seek accurate information. The content will be presented in easily discoverable, social-first formats.<\/p>\n<p>Both editorial teams will responsibly utilize <strong>AI translation technologies<\/strong> to bring the BBC\u2019s high-quality global journalism to Hungarian and Romanian speakers. Journalists will curate the editorial offerings, ensuring human oversight for all AI-assisted content, which will be clearly labeled. Additionally, the teams will produce original reports and in-depth analysis.<\/p>\n<h3>Innovation and Impact<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Fiona Crack<\/strong>, Interim Global Director, BBC News, emphasized the critical role of independent and impartial news in the current global climate. \u201cIn an age of shrinking press freedom, rising disinformation, and global uncertainty, delivering independent and impartial news has never been more important. Launching BBC News Magyarul and BBC News Romania is a milestone built on innovation, like AI-assisted translation tools used responsibly, in order to reach new audiences with trusted news,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n<p>This expansion follows the successful launch of <strong>BBC News Polska<\/strong>, which achieved an impressive average weekly reach of <strong>537,000<\/strong> in less than a year, growing substantially to <strong>808,000<\/strong> in the most recent quarter. Notably, its reach among women is particularly high, constituting nearly 60% of its audience since launch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kateryna Khinkulova<\/strong>, Editorial Lead for BBC News Magyarul and BBC News Romania, expressed enthusiasm for leading a skilled team in this venture. \u201cOur offer is tailored to share high-quality journalism on the subjects that are of special relevance to the audiences we serve. With these two languages, we are eager to expand our reach in the region, especially to women and younger audiences, with the best of the BBC\u2019s journalism,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Expanding the <strong>BBC World Service\u2019s<\/strong> global content offer to <strong>45 languages<\/strong>, including English, BBC News Magyarul and BBC News Romania will be available digitally worldwide.
