Metula, Israel’s northernmost town, is situated on the border between Lebanon and Israel. Surrounded on three sides by Lebanese territory, Metula finds itself directly in the firing line when rockets are launched by Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed political and military organization. Israeli authorities report that 12 soldiers and two civilians have been killed by Hezbollah rockets over the past six weeks as the conflict persists. Meanwhile, in Lebanon, local authorities state that more than 2,000 people have died in Israeli strikes since fighting resumed on March 2, following a Hezbollah attack on Israel.
